Decent time. Appreciate that the others are likely stronger and fitter.

My coach referred to a guy 20 lbs heavier than me as "built like a stick". I was 6'0", 145 at the time.

Cut your cardio exercise back some and work with weights on major muscle groups like your lats, glutes and thighs. With more muscle you'll be more effective. Once your weight is up 10 lbs or so, you can up your cardio work again.

All that said, try to compute "power per lb". At my height and weight, I tied with the biggest heavyweight on the team at 6'4 and 220, and the smallish (college) frosh 8 stroke at 5'10" and 165, with the same horsepower per pound of bodyweight.

It comes down to literally pulling your weight, and getting your power to the end of the oar blade. The other guys might have better erg times but if they have poor technique, may not make a boat go fast.

When some guys complained about me being skinny, the coach told them 2 things: my top Hp/lb rating, and that I had the best technique on the team. If you make a boat go fast, you hold your seat.

It is pretty decent of a score. not bad.
its a good score for someone who is 135 lbs, so good job.
Im 6'4 and 155 lbs and i just did a 6k a few hours ago.
I got 23:23 for the time and got a split of 1:56.9 which is my best score so far. im in highschool and am rowing in a club thing.
so basically, ur score is pretty good for someone who is 6'2 and 135 lbs. also, u have a great height and weight for crew. By the way, u dont ****. also, the bigger faster ppl on ur team are probably good but there are fast big ppl on all highschool rowing teams. there is a guy on my team who is like 225 lbs and can pull a 1:40 split for his 6k.
But good job on getting a pretty good score on ur 6k.
Coachs also take weight along with erg scores and technique into consideration when determining boat lineups.
ROCK ON!!!

That is a decent average split for a race of this length. Don't be discouraged that your friends had faster scores than you.

You have to take into consideration that you are on a machine that has generic settings that measure speed, and power output, but don't put into consideration your body build. You sound like a skinny guy being so tall and only weighing 135lbs! Most ergs are calibrated for a 170lb person. So you pulling a certain split on an erg is not the same power output as someone 40 lbs heavier than you pulling the same split. If someone weighs more than you, they should be pulling more and creating more power output.

Just remember that being on an erg is very different from being in an actual boat. You have to take into consideration your weight, but also your technique, blade work, balance, lots of things.

Just keep up the hard work, and don't get discouraged!
